50 years ago MINI was something of a superstar in
the rally scene, having claimed multiple victories at the Monte Carlo Rally
through the late 1960s. To celebrate that mighty period of Mini history, the
automaker has built something special that will be unveiled in just a few days
at the Frankfurt Motor Show. It’s officially called the Mini John Cooper Works GP Concept.
Back in the early 1960's I had a John Cooper Works Mini customized in the speed shops of London. The memories with that car are still with me. The custom wood steering wheel, alloy rims (so small), special tires, leather sun roof and the great seats made that Mini stand out. The new Mini John Cooper Works GP Concept shown here is superb. I do believe this concept will be built.
