The PR department at Volkswagen of America,  announced today the release of the all-new Golf SportWagen Limited Edition, which is scheduled to arrive in dealerships later this month. Positioned in the sweet spot of the Golf SportWagen lineup, the vehicle will have a starting Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $24,995.

We have been driving Volkswagens since late 70’s and were impressed then and now. The quality is superb. Engineering has always been admired.

The Golf SportWagen Limited Edition is loaded with popular equipment, including an array of standard driver assistance features. These include Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Blind Spot Monitor, and Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist). The Limited Edition model also features a number of exterior enhancements over the S model, such as 17-inch aluminum-alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, chrome window trim, and a “Limited” badge on the front fenders.
On the inside, the Golf SportWagen Limited Edition comes standard with leatherette seating surfaces and KESSY® keyless access with push-button start. Every vehicle is also equipped with heatable front seats and window washer nozzles, which were previously available only on the SE model.

The Golf SportWagen Limited Edition also features Volkswagen’s new MIB II infotainment system, which provides a comprehensive suite of connectivity features. The MIB II system offers USB and VW-Car Net® App-Connect, allowing owners with these systems to access select apps from their smartphones directly through the vehicle’s head unit. Volkswagen of America is one of the first in the industry to support all three available connected car systems: Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto™ and MirrorLink®. VW Car-Net’s connected vehicle services umbrella also includes connected car services, advanced telematics, and enhanced navigation available by subscription.

The Golf SportWagen Limited Edition is equipped with a 1.8-liter turbocharged and direct-injection TSI® four-cylinder engine that produces 170 horsepower and 199 pound-feet of torque. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. On the highway, the vehicle achieves an EPA estimated fuel economy rating of 35 mpg.

We have not driven this new model and when we do a complete review will be released with video and stills from our staff.

I love the safety features and that means more to me us than the wonderful navigation or telematics.
Volkswagen Sportwagens for 2016 have received so many awards including".

Volkswagen  Golf family models have earned the highest 5-star overall crash test rating from the government—providing further validation that Volkswagen produces some of the safest vehicles in the industry," said Joerg Sommer, Vice President Product Marketing and Strategy, Volkswagen of America, Inc.

“Our vehicles have numerous safety and driver assistance technologies that work to help prevent collisions, and help protect occupants when an accident is unavoidable.” Just watch the advertisements on TV and you see what they are so pleased about.

Volkswagen stated in their PR that in addition to overall 5-star ratings from NHTSA, four Volkswagen models also earn TOP SAFETY PICK+ ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). The 2016 Volkswagen Golf 4-door (including the Golf SportWagen variant), Golf GTI 4-door, Jetta and Passat models have been awarded 2016 TOP SAFETY PICK+ ratings by IIHS when equipped with the optional Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist) system.
The IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+ award is given to vehicles that have met TOP SAFETY PICK criteria—good ratings in the moderate overlap front, small overlap front, side, roof strength, and head restraint tests—and have earned an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention system performance.

IIHS stated to the PR department that it launched its front crash prevention rating program in 2013 to help consumers sort through a maze of technologies and zero in on the most effective systems.

Under a three-tier rating program, models with optional or standard front crash prevention systems are rated as superior, advanced or basic. Ratings are determined by whether the vehicles have available front crash prevention systems, and, if so, how it performs in 12 and 25 mph autonomous emergency braking and forward collision warning tests. To assess the performance, points are awarded based on the braking and warning performance in the tests. Vehicles that have a warning system only earn a basic rating, provided the system meets National Highway Traffic Safety Administration performance criteria. For details, visit www.iihs.org.

I love VW’s diesel engines and so many customers are still very loyal. I have interviewed over twenty diesel drivers for VW reviews in the past 15 years. So many are pleased with their VW diesels and once VW takes care of the diesels on the road I expect more and more loyal customers will demand those superb diesels.

Recently Volkswagens Bugatti introduced a remarkable luxurious Sports Car. The Bugatti Chiron was shown to the press and public.

Someday I expect to inspect and drive the newest entry from Bugatti. Here are a few photos to view.

Look in the last month Range Rover, Jaguar  and BMW are introducing more vehicles that are offered in diesel. Nissan even showed another upgrade of their Nissan Titan XD diesel truck was introduced. Dealers at Nissan have customers awaiting the new diesel trucks. Nissan was smart and used Cummins to bring out the right diesel for the truck.

Volkswagen has so many amazing vehicles including    VOLKSWAGEN'S Bugatti is just getting better with the Chiron introduced in Geneva Switzerland earlier this week.
The new Chiron, is even more of a record- and headline-grabbing Bugatti.  A 310-mph speedometer and Bugatti's claim that it’ll do 261 mph is certainly expected from the 1500 horses.
